    Supplements

Hi I just wanted to know what guys like P.S. are using for supplements. I am only using a multi v+m and antiox formula and some trib. Should I be taking vitamin C and creatine and some of that other stuff or no?

I've started taking supplement to keep my digestive system happier. My body seems to handle training hard better than eating hard. So I've started taking a probiotic. All the meat/high protein stuff messes with the pH of the gut so want to keep the good bacteria happy there. Also take chromium picolinate with almost every meal -- helps metabolize all the fats and carbs.

greens+ is probably a good idea if you're not religious with the veggies in the off season like myself.

Geeze I use quite a few supplements. Lets see...20 grams of creatine per day, L-Arginine, BCAA (mixed in crystal lite or Nox Stac and drank during my workouts), yohimbe, Vit-D, multi vite/min, Ephies (low dose), Niacin, and fibre (mixed into my AM shake), EFAs, as well as protein powder.

I take it year 'round as I am always trying to stay somewhat lean as this makes contest prep so much easier, so no I don't bulk up as I have done in the past.

Well Chuck may have looked better in the past but I understand that he still won the heavies, so as far as I know he's doing the Nat's this year.......but it is Chuck so we'll see.....

The leg is doing pretty good all in all. My strength is back to being decent IE leg press 1000 lbs for reps, 3 plate smith squats for reps (second to last execise for legs), but it's still a long way from it's former size, so I've still got my work cut out for me.

    How's things in your world?

PS, Im really struggling with an IT Band Syndrome issue in my right knee.
The physiotherapy has proven to be useless, this is now like 6 months of this. Any suggestions for strengthing, stretches or exercises that helped you get the knee and surrounding areas strong again?
I can only do legs in the 20-30 rep range, anything heavy it still hurts.
    thx

I've also had that issue in the past, and ya physio would probably be ineffective as they tend to err on the side of caution when working on people (some times ya get lucky but not very often!). I would see an AR message therapist and get 'em to really break down what sounds like some nasty scar tissue, as far as stretching goes the only one I found that worked was to prop my knee on the back of the couch bend my knee so that both knee and ankle are on the back or the couch and then bend forward at the hip. This really stretches the shit outta the IT band, but it will take a while to get a full stretch so be patient.

I'm with PS on the stretch, also try busting up some scar tissue by going over a foam roller; it HURTS!
