ive been meditating on and off for a while and have decided to get on it again. im not a perfectionist but im always looking for self improvement and have a strong interest in sports/human performance. i heard about biofeedback used in meditation years back i started to see devices like eeg being used but the price was way to much for something not really proven. during black friday sale amazon was selling the muse eeg headband for 180 canadian delivered. fair price for me to experiment with a new gadget. i find it an amazing addition to my regular practice. regular meditation teaching is relaxed and tries to teach you not to be critical with yourself as your mind wonders and just bring back your concentration when you notice it wonder. real granola like. the muse is more like an old school teacher standing over you and catching you as soon as you are distracted. i find the muse works best when used after a regular meditation period because you have practiced the relaxation state like a warm up. then using the muse as a performance. it gives you lots of data you can compare and it is progressive and has goals. just like working out. so if you are interested, i give it 2thumbs. my advice is to first get a regular practice going before you purchase so it doesnt end up gathering dust and then wait for the price to come down under $200.

I never meditated. Is it really relaxing? Does it help for stress and anxiety?

D08DDBA7-DBC4-4CA1-B125-DCD39723D50D.jpgI have downloaded a few apps and have been meditating almost daily for 3 weeks.

Before bed and if I wake up and can’t fall back asleep.
I’ll put my ear buds in and listen to a 10min mindfulness program.
    It really does work.

    You focus on your breathing.
You don’t think about the past or the future, only the present.
Sometimes in the programs they will use imagery or body scans.
The trick is to always bring your thoughts back to the present and focus on your breathing.
Letting your body and mind relax.

It’s not magic but it will slow down your heart rate, lower your bp and deliver more oxygen to your brain.

It’s great for day time use as well or before your afternoon nap.

I played hockey last night so I had a bit of adrenaline in me, so I used one of the apps.

This morning I woke up sick.
Skipped my morning coffee, ate my breakfast than meditated before my nap.

    It is worth trying.

I started this because I was having a lot of stress and anger. I don’t like my job and was waking up at 4am every morning.

This is just my experience, and sorry OP if it isn’t directly related to your topic, but th device you speak of, if it’s designed for meditation it is worth it. As you already know the impact that mediation can have on your well-being.

I like doing a 5 - 10 minute guided meditation off YouTube to start the day...
