Morning,
There are some interesting studies on Hep C and taking a conservative approach with a triple antioxidant therapy. Hep C attacks the liver and your liver and inevitably you may need a liver transplant due to cirrhosis or develop liver cancer. There are new treatments that cure it now with a regimen of daily meds for an extended period that were not available 10 years ago. Regardless - alpha lipoic acid has been studied for a long time and uses for failing livers among other issues such as diabetic neuropathy. The following studies I found interesting even though it was on a small sample of 3 people the results were impressive - this was the main conclusion: “The 3 patients presented in this paper followed the triple antioxidant program and recovered quickly and their laboratory values remarkably improved. Furthermore, liver transplantation was avoided and the patients are back at work, carrying out their normal activities, and feeling healthy.”
The study is here - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1055453

Anyone who is taking anything liver toxic, may want to consider adding this to their supplement regimen. It is not an expensive supplement.

Too much of a good thing can be just as dangerous. ALA’s uses are far beyond liver issues, cardiac issues, cancer, diabetic neuropathy which makes me wonder if it would work for normal nerve pain like neurontin or pregabilin, common sense says a reasonable dose while on GH would make sense.
If this basic substance can stop mushroom poisoning, it should be useful in preventing organ damage from other toxins - hence the word should as I do not know. Unfortunately- most trials are run with pharmaceutical IV ALA and while we are lucky to have access to quality oral herbs, etc. Their impact is not as sudden or profound.
As always - much is my opinion and I am not qualified so take it for what it is, just food for thought.
