I usually smash back a carton of egg whites and a piece of fruit post workout then eat In about an hour
Liquid egg whites blended with pineapple juice post workout with slin was a staple in my earlier years. I always knew something was off internally. I couldn’t even stand the smell of my own gas. Poor digestion/gastric distress.

I use RedCon1 MRE but even then it’s because it’s beef based and doesn’t bother my guts. I have the same bottle for the past 6 months going.... two or three shakes a week (and not full shakes just one or two scoops instead of the 4) if I need help getting my calories in

For the past year or more i switched my post workout drink to just natural orange juice with 50g dextrose and sometimes thermotabs. I drink this as soon as done working out, then I will eat a good meal of beef loaded with salt and rice or rice pasta within an hour

Hmm that sounds tasty actually
Egg whites can definitely cause some serious gas. For me it’s entertaining though chasing my girlfriend out of the room with farts

My farts become a deadly weapon if I drink too many raw egg whites lol

A guy tried to argue with me about this the other day. His only rebuttal was “worked for me I grew”. My response “no...you grew in spite”. Most people can handle about 8-12oz without noticing. Double or triple (say 32oz lol) the dose and let me know lol. You absorb 50% and the rest sits and rots in your gut. On the other hand it’s been a while since I’ve gave my wife a “Dutch Oven”...possibly on the menu tonight.

That’s Just it. If I keep it to 1 -1.5 cartons a day I’m not bad. After I go over that then I can tell it’s not doing me any good. It’s absolutely rotting in my gut. Also once the gas starts getting bad I take a break for a few days and let it clear up

I went YEARS without using a powder. The main reason being the GI issues it started to cause me. Ive since started using a powder again but, ONLY post workout and once on rest days. Ive found Isoflex to not cause me any GI issues if I stick to only one shake per day. I use it to get extra, easy calories (mixed in with numerous other ingredients) and also to satisfy my epic sweet tooth.

I utilize them because my appetite has never been great so I’d rather get in some extra gs of p through powder than trying to choke down an extra couple ounces of chicken. In saying that when I use powder I’ll get half my protein intake for M1 for example through whey than the other half through eggs. I rarely rely on it as a stand alone.
That’s one of the biggest problems is chicken.
Eat something tasty like a steak
I can’t stand chicken breasts. I don’t think I’d eat one if you held a gun to my head

Is there anyone else out there that will not drink protein shakes?
I guess I do drink shakes but they are home made
I will not buy protein powder. Probably haven’t in about a decade.
I don’t either.
I’m plant based and all the powders are disgusting and VASTLY over priced. $50-60 for 500g)
If I need a shake I freeze fruit and add nuts and peanut butter, hemp seeds etc.

LMAO - I stopped that a few years ago, it tends to kill any chance of getting lucky.

Protein powder is a convenience item. I find it useful when cutting, to keep calories lower, and protein higher. Sometimes don't have time to always have readily available sources of lean protein to go.

I take advantage of them for sure. 1 scoop in my breakfast meal and one poured over my nightly blueberries. I have no issues with them at all.

The best protein is the one you tolerate the best. Quality and amino profile-wise whey isolate is great. Rotation of protein supplements however is likely best. I’ll change from a whey isolate to a collagen to a vegan protein every few days.
