Chrome open window grid view vs list view

I opened up my browser two days ago to find my open window screen had changed to a list view from the grid or tile view.
I hate it and can't find any way to revert it. I tried the chrome//flags method I found online but it doesn't work.
I checked 2.friends phones and theirs are normal, has any of you had this happen?

Hrm yeah, I tried that same procedure on my android phone, relaunched, and it didn't seem to change the behavior. That's fucked.

That's the method I tried. I reset everything, tried enabling each one. Still get no where. I'm close to uninstalling/reinstalling it now.

Today, sort of out of nowhere, I just noticed my Chrome on my phone is now showing the old tab style. Maybe a reboot was needed, not just a force close of Chrome (I rebooted it last night). This is after making that setting change on Tuesday.

Ok, I dug around more within those changes available on the flags page. Nothing seemed to fix it.
After some time I learned it was in my settings on my phone. Under accessibility the simplified view. Put that back to default and voila.
I caused it all myself lol.
