My wife @ 50 took up resistance training in July. She's never lifted before and is now hooked on the lifestyle and benefits. I started her off on full body from July to Sept then swtiched to upper and lower 3x/week alternating. She is also doing steady state cardio on her off days. Have her at maintenance calories with no activities taken in to account. She's natural and puts up with my occasional supplementation.

Good for you and good for her!
I got my wife into resistance training this year too!
She’s a runner so prefers a naturally lean body but is so happy with her more defined arms, shoulders, legs etc.

So important for us all as we age to train to help prevent osteoporosis!
She looks like she’s doing awesome!

Great thing for both of you.
She's doing great!
Also got my wife into training in april 2018 when i bought mostly everything to train at home. She's 33 and she's proud of the new body she's building. Best shape of her life at the moment and that make her so much more confident.
I enjoy training with her and how her body changing too.
She also understand better the reason that push me to train now that she live this lifestyle too.

And like @asashouryu said, it's good to prevent osteoporosis, her mother find out at 58 that she got it, so my wife got her motivation from this too.

good stuff @LesPaul ! Looks like your wife is doing great, good muscle tone already. I met my wife at the gym in 2005, and while she is not as consistent as I am we still enjoy a few training sessions together every week.

Awesome man. So much to be gained from this lifestyle. She has just drastically improved her quality of life. My wife also lifts and competes. Her only regret is not starting sooner. Good for your wife 😀. Im sure your relationship will flourish thru this shared passion

Hey @LesPaul - did it take much work to get her going or was she interested? We both enjoy multiple martial arts, she exercises daily but I’m the one into weights. Every once I a while she asks me what s specific exercise is for, etc. Guess what I’m wondering is do you go together or does she just do it now because she enjoys it?
My wife was gifted with the ability to get very muscular very fast, it runs in her family - her brother is the thickest and strongest natural guy I know or one of them. When we do kickboxing on a regular basis - that alone will create a lot of vascularity and shoulder and arm definition. I’m jealous lol.
Appreciate your input.
Thanks
GR

She took it upon herself and asked for help with a routine & diet. She made it clear she didn't want me as a training partner & pushing her. I think the motivation was seeing me recomp. She was not it terrible shape for her age but was holding some BF in the typical areas for her gender. If there is anything I've leanred from this is Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Encourge but don't push. Positive words over negatives.

Merry Christmas GR :)
